1. Can I take longer than 12 or 24 weeks?
Your Course is designed to be self-paced. Whilst it is recommended that you submit work on a regular basis and get into the habit of keeping deadlines, you actually have up to 12 months or more to complete your course of studies. Alternatively, if you have the available time, we can deliver your Course over 12 weeks. Simply notify our College Registrar.
2. Is the College accredited?
the College is approved with the “International Accreditation & Recognition Council”. IARC works with participating institutions across the world including the United States, Europe, Asia and Australasia. This approval brings recognition of the College having met criteria in the areas of administration, course content, course delivery and student assessment.
3. How do I communicate with my tutor?
You will be in regular contact with your tutor via email. It’s your tutor’s job to assess your assignments, develop your writing skills and bring you to a level of professionalism where your Diploma is forthcoming. It’s also your tutor’s job to help you get published during this period. the College also has a Student Services Department, which you can email at any time if you are experiencing problems, have further questions or require assistance in any way. Simply contact our Registrar.
4. Do I have to attend any classes?
The Course is provided completely online. You complete this Course at home, at your own pace.
5. Will the College help me find work?
Upon your graduation, any suitable material you chose to place with International News Syndicate will be listed on our main website and promoted to editors and other buyers of freelance material worldwide. If you wish you may also be accredited with INS as a freelance journalist. This can lead to valuable commissioned assignments from media buyers who require a freelance writer in your geographical area or in your field of freelance specialization. Having said this, it is important you also build your own personal contacts within the industry.
6. Do I have to have a background in journalism?
No, the Course is specifically structured for students with no experience in the field of journalism. In fact the College, along with most editors and publishers, welcome beginning writers. The world is constantly in need of new material and new talent.
7. How long are the assignments?
There are a variety of assignments to submit to the College. Some are shorter than others but each requires the development of ideas and/or research into topics. Please allow a minimum of fours hours per assignment.
